"From the Ground Up. Assessing the Record of Anticorruption Assistance in Southeastern Europe" by Ma
A Policy Paper Commissioned and Funded by the Open Society Foundation for Albania, the Open Society Fund—Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Foundation Open Society Institute Macedonia and the Open Society Foundation—Sofia, published in "Policy Studies Series" by the Center For Policy Studies at the Central European University.

In this policy paper, based on research findings from twenty case studies of donor-supported projects in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria and Macedonia, the effects of five years of anticorruption projects and high-profile public awareness campaigns in the Southeastern European region are assessed.

"The Rise and Fall of the Anti-Corruption Industry" by Bryane Michael, Linacre College
The full title of this articles is "The Rise and Fall of the Anti-Corruption Industry: Toward Second Generation Anti-Corruption Reforms in Central and Eastern Europe?" According to the author, the anti-corruption industry in Eastern Europe so far has focused on ineffective and often deleterious awareness raising instead of important capacity building. If the anti-corruption industry is serious about actually reducing corruption, the author suggests it will have to stop organising anti-corruption “shows” and dig its heels into difficult and highly specialised work.

New findings on business-related corruption in Eastern Europe and Central Asia
A new World Bank report released today reveals some encouraging signs that the magnitude and negative impact that corruption exerts on business may be declining in many countries of the region. The report, Anticorruption in Transition 2: Corruption in Enterprise-State Interactions in Europe and Central Asia 1999-2002, analyzes trends in corruption in business-government interactions in 26 transition economies of Europe and Central Asia. The findings are based on a survey of over 6,500 firms as part of a Business Environment and Enterprise Performance Survey (BEEPS) that was run in 1999 and 2002.
