The information and communication technologies (ICT) sector is a major driver of competitiveness for the Bulgarian economy. It is also the most dynamic and innovative economic sector. Bulgaria has the advantage of established traditions and experience in ICT, as well as a structured fabric of private companies which cover the whole spectrum of ICT applications.

The various topics and policy areas are arranged thematically to facilitate a more comprehensive overview of Bulgaria's transition to an Information Society.
The ICT for Development topic page is devoted to increasing awareness and understanding of the potential impacts of ICT on development, and stimulating people's motivation and ability to participate in this transition.
